Behind the Scenes: How I Craft Every LanRetro Scarf by Hand

Ever wondered what really goes into making a scarf that’s more than just an accessory - a piece that feels like it’s telling a story? I get asked all the time: how do I pick the vibrant prints, and what’s my secret for getting that perfect balance of retro style and everyday comfort? Today, I’d love to take you behind the scenes for a peek at how your LanRetro scarf goes from inspiration to your wardrobe.

🧵 From Idea to Fabric 💝

It always starts with the fabric. I’m drawn to bold vintage prints, unique textures, and colours that spark nostalgia but still feel fresh. Before a scarf ever reaches my sewing table, I spend hours swooning over fabric swatches - sometimes even sourcing limited batches that won’t be repeated. The challenge? Finding materials that look great, feel soft against the skin, and will hold up to being a staple in your closet.

🧵 Designed for Everyday (and Special Days) 💝

Once I’ve settled on the perfect print, it’s all about creating a design you’ll actually want to reach for. Some days, I experiment with new shapes or extra details, like reversible patterns or delicate stitching. Each scarf is cut and sewn by hand in my little home studio, where I can adjust every part to be just right - long enough for a statement bow, and light enough for spring.

🧵 Handcrafting Every Piece With Care 💝

Every scarf is pressed, edges are checked, and ties are tested, so by the time it lands in your hands, you know it’s truly unique. It’s my favourite part - seeing how each finished scarf comes out a little different (even if I’ve made the style before!), and imagining how you’ll style it with your own outfits.
